Jason McCue is the Senior and a Founding Partner of McCue & Partners. He is an internationally recognised expert on human rights, victims’ rights, domestic and cross-border litigation, transitional justice (peace and reconciliation), conflict-resolution and negotiation.


Jason is a leading international figure in crisis management and resolution. He is regularly called upon by heads of state, governments, opposition groups, corporations and public figures to provide advice on a broad array of issues, from commercial and private concerns to transitional justice schemes and humanitarian matters.


He is recognised as a leading U.K. expert on litigation, human rights and reputation management (defamation (libel and slander), privacy and confidentiality).


Jason was awarded the U.K. Law Society’s Solicitor of the Year 2009-2010  for, amongst other things, his work on human rights issues in Africa.  In 2011 he ws honoured with a doctorate in law.  For further information see his biography in Who’s Who.

  • Legal Background

    Jason is well known for his pursuit of terrorists and rogue regimes through the civil and criminal courts and for the tracing and recovery of their assets.  He  is renowned for the use and development of domestic and international civil class actions/private prosecutions and human rights cases on behalf of victims: whether victims of terror, rogue regimes, states, corporates or individuals.


    Jason represents many commercial individuals and organisations and has a wealth of experience in advising on commercial matters and matters of public interest and public affairs.  He advises many high-profile individuals on an array of discrete legal, personal, business and political issues. He has confidentially advised political world leaders, governments, opposition groups as well as charities, NGOs and humanitarian organisations on an array of issues.


    He has wide experience and had successes in every continent in ensuring the release and return home (whether through legal process, campaigning or negotiation) of numerous alleged criminal and political prisoners abroad.


    Jason also spent many years defending one of the world’s largest media organisations against numerous libel actions brought against its newspapers.  He also advised many other newspapers and broadcasters in the U.K. as well as international insurance companies in the errors and omissions business.

    Jason has a long established working relationship with the political and government infrastructure  within the UK and various other world leaders and institutions.


    He is very active on global humanitarian, justice, civil society and development issues.  Examples are: He was the architect of Mandate Darfur which was developed with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation (see www.mandatedarfur.org) and has worked closely with UNAMID in the region on an array of matters.  He is engaged in transitional justice and post conflict issues in Libya.  He is a founder of the Great Foundation along with his wife and others that is dedicated to fostering gender equality globally.

  • Legal Highlights

    McDonald -v- The Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Colonel Muammar Qadhafi et al: Lead counsel representing the interests of victims of Provisional IRA (PIRA) bombings carried out with the support of the Gaddafi regime.


    Breslin & Ors -v- McKenna & Ors: Lead counsel in the world’s first ever civil proceedings against members of a terrorist organisation and the Real IRA (RIRA), on behalf of the families of those killed in the 1998 bombing of Omagh.  Mr. McCue led the case to victory in 2010. He was also instrumental in the successful lobbying of the U.S. Government that brought about its designation of the RIRA by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist organisation.


    Almog -v- Arab Bank Plc: Co-counsel representing over 2000 victims of HAMAS suicide bombings before U.S. District Court.  The defendant stands accused of handling and transferring funds in support of terrorism.


    The Times -v- Thomas (“Slab”) Murphy: Led the only successful legal action in which a Chief of Staff of the Provisional IRA was proven, in court, to be the head of a terrorist organisation.


    Jason has successfully represented a number of personalities in respect of criminal allegations made against them, including John Leslie.


    Jason has advised, organised and managed numerous domestic and international campaigns on a variety of matters, from justice against the Omagh Bombers to www.freebelarusnow.org.
